In order to provide more accurate and precise answers to their questions, and let everyone be aware of basic rights and interest as a laborer, Yilian had invited a lawyer, Chunhui Sun who has been involved in various labor cases, to be part of this training session. Mr. Sun’s presentation is pretty straightforward and comprehensive. Throughout the entire process, Mr. Sun and workers were standing together in an open space by the residence hall. Mr. Sun’s profeesional presentation was followed by workers’ participation. The attendees were very carefully taking notes, and kept asking questions about those parts mostly concern them, till it was getting dark. The participants seemed to expect more when Yilian’s staff were about to take off because they did benefit a lot from today’s session.
Through this training, we have brought legal knowledge into construction site, provided a face-to-face communication with the workers and got a chance to apprehend problems they occasionally face. The hope is, through training program like this, workers no longer consider legal knowledge as unuseful and impractical. Moreover, they are prepared to protect their rights and interests through legal approach.
