On November 11th, Beijing Yilian Labor Legal Aid and Research Center of Labor carried out legal training to the workers in Peking University construction site workers’ dormitory once again. Sponsored by the United Nations Democracy Fund, the training is in Yilan’s project that aims to enhance the legal capacity of migrant construction workers in order to protect their rights. The training was offered by lawyer Han Shichun, the deputy director of Yilian. With years of experience in legal aid cases, Mr. Han launched a vivid training for workers with easy-to-understand expressions.
During the training, Mr. Han cite a large number of case facts to explain the importance of labor contracts and how to sign the contract legally. He also gave pertinent legal advices about demanding unpaid salaries which these contribution workers were most concerned about, especially at the end of year when they were supposed to get their wages for the whole year. Seemingly inscrutable legal knowledge in Mr. Han's explanations was crystal to workers.
The crew of Yilian carefully prepared handbooks on labor law and little gifts to distribute to every worker on the scene. What’s more, the crew also welcomed those who may have legal issues to call the legal consulting hotline of Yilian in the future. Directly coming to the legal aid office of Yilian to have a face-to-face review in order to effectively safeguard their rights and interests by legal manners is also a way recommended by the crew. After the legal training, some workers also expressed their expectations for the next training.
