On the evening of December 9th, staff of Beijing Yilian Legal Aid and Research Center of Labor carried out another training event of labor law at the construction site in Peking University. Different from the past, two experienced legal professionals of Yilian legal aid team, partnered with staff of Project Department, visited workers’ dormitory to interview and looked into their needs and troubles concerning labor relationship. Staff of Project Department, together with professional legal aid team of Yilian, will conduct three visits to interview over 60 workers in over 10 dormitories around East Gate of Peking University.
After several public training sessions, Yilian Staff discovered that interview would be a better method to acknowledge workers’ specific problems. It would also help to build a customized service and make prepare for future events.
3 staff interviewed over 20 workers in 5 dormitories in the event last evening. Staff enquired workers’ basic information and answer their questions concerning labor law. Most workers had been concerning about occupational injury compensation, in respect of which, Yilian’s team gave systematic and professional explanation. The team also emphasized that workers may call Yilian’s hotline when they encounter troubles concerning labor relationship and Yilian would be able to provide free legal consultation service.
Besides, staff also distributed well-designed labor law handbook and some snacks. Workers kept asking questions and made a good atmosphere. The event lasted for 2 hours. After the session ended, workers expressed their expectation of future events.
