Of labor rights and to promote communication and cooperation between labor and government, trade unions and civil society.
There are three elements to our advocacy:
* Advice on legislation and policy amendments as an expert on labor rights
* Awareness-raising and educational activities to promote labor rights among the general public
*Training to government bodies, trade unions, and civil society organizations
The Centre regularly participates in research and consultation on Chinese labor and social security law and issues facing migrant workers in collaboration with relevant government bodies, such as the State Council and the Ministry for Human Resources and Social Security, and other stakeholders, including the All-China Federation of Trade Unions.
The Center seeks to use its influence to advance labor rights in China. This includes raising awareness of labor rights issues with relevant government bodies. The Center has established important contacts with government bodies in the Guangdong, Guizhou, Hunan, Shanxi and Heilongjiang provinces. In spite of his position as an in-house counsel for his employer, it took Mr Huang nearly three years to get his own workplace injury recognized and be compensated. Mr. Huang’s personal story of workplace injury has moved many important government officials to help protect labor rights and to resolve problems facing workers.
